About Mary
I’ve spent more than 30 years working with companies ranging from early stage startups to large, publicly traded global enterprises.
I’ve been a CEO, a Board member, COO of a global division, and a General Counsel.
I’ve worked in banking, payments, consumer lending, fintech, telecommunications, government, and law.
I’ve led business functions ranging from risk management and compliance to R&D and public policy.
I’ve lived and worked in the heart of Silicon Valley, in our nation’s capital, and in Europe.
Today, in addition to my executive coaching work, I serve on several corporate and nonprofit boards and provide consulting services to small startups and large global enterprises.
Until 2019, I was CEO of Green Dot Bank and a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank and its parent, Green Dot Corp. Green Dot provides a variety of payment processing, wage disbursement, tax refund processing, and other financial services to consumers and businesses. It has partnered with some of technology’s leading names - including Apple, Intuit, Uber, and Stash - to bring innovative products to American consumers.
Before Green Dot, I served as an executive at companies ranging from Silicon Valley Bank, the leading provider of banking services to high-growth companies, to New Skies Satellites, a Netherlands-based operator of a global communications satellite system, to Insikt, an early stage startup.
I am experienced in navigating the unique dynamics facing companies in regulated industries and with the joys and challenges of working with diverse teams.
While I have spent most of my career in the private sector, I also served as counsel on Senator Kennedy’s Labor and Judiciary Committees.
I am passionate about expanding access to high quality early childhood education and helping all Americans build a financially secure life.
My business knowledge and leadership skills have been recognized on a variety of occasions, including as one of the Most Influential Women in Payments (Payments Source – 2018), a Silicon Valley Woman of Influence (Silicon Valley Business Journal – 2012), and as one of the 40 Most Powerful Businesswomen in the Netherlands (de Volkskrant – 2002).
